Paradise Island Family Vacation

Paradise Island is a true island paradise offering deluxe resorts, beautiful casinos, and tropical splendor mixed with dazzling night-time entertainment including cabaret shows, magic acts, and even moonlight dinner cruises. Water sports, including water skiing, snorkeling, parasailing and diving are always popular activities. Paradise Island has everything you expect from a tropical destination. Spectacular beaches, a variety of activities, perfect year-round weather, a casual laid back atmosphere and warm Bahamian hospitality.

Two bridges over the harbor connect Paradise Island and Nassau. You can travel between the two by foot, by boat or by car. Stretching for over two miles, Paradise Island is one of the world's most spectacular expanses of sand and surf.

The island is developed almost exclusively to accommodate travelers, with resorts, hotels, restaurants, shops, a golf course, an aquarium, and a casino rounding out the amenities. Very few private residences exist on the island.

Pristine beaches and turquoise water - they don't call it Paradise Island for nothing!

Paradise Island was formerly known as Hog Island. Huntington Hartford, the A&P supermarket heir, arrived on Hog Island in 1959. Huntington bought Hog Island from Axel Wenner Gren and changed the name to Paradise Island. His opening of his Paradise Island in 1962 was covered in Newsweek and Time magazines. Huntington applied for a gambling license for Paradise Island and took on a partner, Jim Crosby of Mary Carter Paint Company. Huntington slowly and eventually sold off his Paradise Island over the next few years to Crosby.

Paradise Island was purchased in the 1980s by Donald Trump for $79 million, then sold to Merv Griffin for $400 million, and last re-sold for $125 million to the current owner. Current estimated value is about $2 billion USD.

Paradise Island Resorts

Atlantis Paradise Island Resort & Casino
Atlantis Paradise IslandAtlantis Paradise Island Resort & Casino offers a resort experience like no other. This mega-resort, the biggest in the Bahamas is massive. Eleven exhibit lagoons in 34 acres of waterscape are home to over 50,000 sea animals representing over 200 species. The resort takes its name and inspiration from the lost city of Atlantis. This theme runs throughout the whole resort.

Guests can explore the ruins of Atlantis in The Dig, challenge the water slides, enjoy 11 swimming areas, and discover endless action in the Atlantis Casino. Resort facilities include the Marina Village, Discovery Kids Camp, Mandara Spa, a sports center, world-class marina, world-class duty free shopping, and a vast array of restaurants and lounges. Thrill seekers will enjoy the six-story Mayan Temple’s water slides, including the Leap of Faith, propelling brave riders on a near-vertical plunge before passing through a clear tunnel in a shark-filled lagoon. Too exciting? Then choose the lazy river ride and float through tropical gardens on an inner tube.

The Atlantis Paradise Island offers 2300 guest rooms and suites in three different Tower locations. The Beach Tower is the most moderately priced tower, closest to the beach, conference center, Lazy River Ride, Club Rush and many marine exhibits. The Coral Towers are the most convenient and centrally located towers, located between the Beach Tower and the Royal Towers, closest to Marine Village, and Atlantis Kids Club. The Royal Towers are the crown jewels of Atlantis. The Casino, Mandara Spa, Sports Center, The Dig and the Mayan Temple are closest to this tower.

Harborside ResortThe Harborside Resort at the Atlantis in the Bahamas is a collection of 392 private villas located off-site of the hotel grounds. Guests of the Harborside Resort will still have full access to all of the Atlantis hotel amenities and facilities, and in addition will have amenities all their own. A pool, fitness facility, private kitchen, and an all-day shuttle to the Atlantis complete the Harborside Resort experience.
Dinner Reservations: Due to the large demand for Atlantis’ restaurants, it is strongly recommended that you make your dinner restaurant reservations prior to arrival. Not doing so may jeopardize your opportunity to enjoy dining in the restaurants of your choosing. Dinner reservations are required for all gourmet restaurants.
