Bahamas beaches offer miles of sand in white or pink. One of the primary reasons the Bahamas have attracted visitors from all over the world is the abundance of beautiful beaches.
The Bahamas has literally thousands of wonderful secluded, sandy beaches, but many of these can only be reached by boat. Bahamas beaches will sometimes be shallow, way out to sea, allowing a perfect view in the transparent waters.
If you're looking for an active, social atmosphere with plenty of convenient services, try a large beach on a popular island. Want to avoid crowds? Secluded beaches can also be found throughout the Bahamas, offering a quiet and more private atmosphere. These beaches tend to be more popular with honeymooners and couples and are usually located on smaller islands.

Cable Beach (New Providence Island): A few miles west of Nassau is Cable Beach, covering three miles of fabulous beach. Has easy access to shops, casinos, restaurants, water-sports and bars. This is New Providence Island's primary beach, with several major hotels. It is popular for its calm water and expanse of fine white sand. This is where the vast majority of tourists end up, so space is often at a premium.
Cat Island's Beaches: The sixth largest island in the Bahamas is one of the least developed of the Bahamian islands. The 60-mile-long Cat Island has lush landscapes of green forests and rolling hills and miles and miles of deserted beaches. The white sandy beaches are pristine, opening onto crystal-clear waters and lined with coconut palms. Visitors can go swimming or snorkeling at several places. Cat Island is one of the most beautiful islands in The Bahamas, and it is visited so little that it’s inexpensive and still feels undiscovered.
Gold Rock Beach (Grand Bahama Island): Located in the Lucayan National Park this beach is secluded and spectacular at low tide. This whole area can be explored by bicycle or kayak or by taking an eco-tour.
Lucayan Beach (Grand Bahama Island): Located across from the Port Lucaya hotels. This popular tourist beach has just about any water-sport activity, from snorkeling to parasailing. It's also a nice stretch of beach for strolling.
Paradise Beach (Paradise Island): Paradise Beach is the most popular beach at Atlantis. Its beautiful white sandy beach stretches for miles. The western end of the beach tends to be quieter if you're looking to get away from all the activities.
Pink Sand Beach (Harbour Island): Harbour Island is most known for its pale pink sand beaches that are over three miles long and over 50 feet wide -- considered one of the very best beaches in The Islands of The Bahamas. Unlike other parts of the world, the sand here is always cool, so you can walk about freely with bare feet. Snorkeling and swimming are made safe and easy by outlying reefs, which provide large areas of relatively calm and shallow waters.
Treasure Cay Beach (Abaco): Voted one of the Caribbean's 10 best in a recent reader poll of Caribbean Travel & Life. Treasure Cay Beach is the most sparkling natural feature of the coastal regions on the island of Abaco.
Xanadu Beach (Grand Bahama Island): Located adjacent to the largest hotel on the island, Xanadu Beach is Grand Bahama's most popular and most crowded beach. A wide, gently sloping beach, sheltered from the waves, which makes it ideal for children. Offers a comprehensive range of water sports activities.
Off the beaten track: Fernandez Bay, on Cat island; Great Guana Cay in the Abacos; The Exuma Land and Sea Park, Petersons Cay, off the coast of Grand Bahama.
